Anti Human Tarfficking work in Mumbai
Rita is a four year old girl who stays in a brothel at Mumbai. Rita did not receive any love from her parents, since she lost her mother at a young age and her father was in the jail. She stayed with the brothel owner who she regards as her grandmother. The reason Rita is being looked after by the brothel owner is to satisfy wrong motives, she intends to sell Rita into prostitution and earn a huge chunk on her, (selling minors into prostitution fetches 10 times more than that of a major).
On receiving this information our team headed out in support with the police to rescue Rita who was at high risk. The rescue was successful and the social from Oasis India presented this case before the Child Welfare Committee (CWC). The CWC referred Rita to a Government Protective home, where she will be provided good nutrition, health care, education and other basic needs.
Rita has now been enrolled in a local school, where she receives formal education, studying in ‘Lower KG’. She is being visited by a social worker from Oasis India regularly and looks happier and healthier day by day
Care & Rehab
“After I lost my husband, receiving one time meal was like a dream for me and my children,” expressed Madhu Singh. Madhu lost her husband two years back as he was infected with HIV+. Struggle and pain was a part of Madhu and her children’s life. They had no clue if they would be blessed to see the next day.
Madhu and her five children stay at Dahisar, Mumbai. She and her youngest son have been infected with HIV+, on their routine check-up at the government hospital once a lady referred Madhu to a counsellor from Oasis India. Madhu did not have any hope of receiving any help from any one, she felt that her fate was bad and no one could improve. However after a few days, she contacted the counsellor from Oasis India and the very next day had a staff from Oasis India visiting her.
Madhu was counselled and was provided for her basic necessities. Madhu’s children felt blessed and were happy. “My children and I were very happy after meeting Oasis India, our basic needs were met and Oasis now is like an extended family to us,” said Madhu. Madhu also got a job in the same company that her husband worked for; she is no more dependant and leads a contented life along with her five children. “I thank and praises God for all that he has done for me and my family, and I bless Oasis India for the work they do,” said Madhu while chatting with a staff from Oasis India
