Below are some Frequent Asked Questions and Answers about the Oasis USA / Stop the Traffik internship program:
How would you describe a typical day of an intern?
The interns will most likely work in the office Tuesday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. The days will vary but will include prayer, staff meetings, research, outreach, event planning, and representing Oasis USA / Stop the Traffik at events.
What activities, tasks, and projects would interns be a part of and what would be expected from interns?
Interns will become an integral member of the Oasis/Stop the Traffik coordinating team with opportunities to grow in an understanding of human trafficking and implement solutions to this human tragedy. Interns will be asked what activities or projects they are most interested in being a part of. We want to provide an experience that will be beneficial to both Oasis USA and to our interns. The particular skill set of the intern will be considered in customizing the placement. Interns will have the opportunity to gain experience in:
- Raising public awareness of modern day slavery through participating in training events, hosting Stop the Traffik information booths and focused outreach in high risk areas.
- Administration related to operating an advocacy campaign.
- Understanding, and when necessary, developing research that will guide the work of Stop the Traffik in the U.S.
- Developing resources and updating existing information in awareness toolkits and training presentations.
- Networking with churches and schools to arrange training opportunities on human trafficking.
- Researching and promoting the availability of fair trade chocolate as part of our campaign to end the trafficking of children on cocoa farms.
- Networking with medical clinics, emergency rooms and other first responders to offer staff training and awareness materials about Human Trafficking.
Also are there different divisions within the internship?
There are not different divisions within the internship but interns may work with different Oasis staff members, depending on what they are interested in.
