Current Traffick Free Communities

Current Community Action:

Pomona, CA 

Individuals and a local church are assisting the police department in caring for young girls caught in sex trafficking, resourcing other organizations working with at risk youth and raising awareness on the issues of HT within the local school district. www.traffickfreepomona.org 

Pasadena, CA

Various individual are exploring areas of vulnerability within the city, partnering with other local organizations to raise awareness in the school district and developing training and awareness opportunities for the city law enforcement agencies and local non profit groups.

San Gabriel, CA

Business, non profits, faith communities and others have undertaken research on the issues of labor trafficking and in conjunction with the Urban Initiatives, a Pasadena based non profit. The team are hoping to develop a grant application that would enable a perminant support worker to be available for this community. Previously the team in San Gabriel have been involved with raising awareness within the political field and developing materials that were disseminated through the media outlets specifically for use within the Chinese community

West Palm Beach, Florida

Faith communities, the local police department, individuals and representatives for the local city are moving to lobby the city government to pass a resolution against the issue of HT.  They are highlighting issues of labor trafficking within the business community and running awareness training with the local communities that are most at risk of traffiking. Plus exploring supporting the local police department with the Oasis freedom bags and in raising awareness with other local neighboring communities.

Los Angeles (downtown), CA

Discovering areas of vulnerability within downtown LA and investigating ways to proceed that would include an integrated approach.

Other Traffick Free Community groups are under consideration and several will be starting in the near future.
