What we do

Abolitionists have been working to end slavery for hundreds of years. Great progress has been made but we need you to help finish the job. Traffik Free Communities facilitates collaboration between key stakeholders to ensure slave labor and slave goods are not a part of our communities.
Engaged citizens form a TFC group to work with eight key community stakeholders to ensure:
-
Consumers: are made aware of the products that contain slave labor and are empowered to take action for freedom.
-
Law Enforcement personnel: are equipped with the information they need to identify trafficking victims and get them the help they need.
-
Local Legislatures: are made aware of how strong ordinances can drive traffickers out of their cities.
-
Local Businesses: such as laundry mats and motels are informed about trafficking and how to report suspicious activity.
-
Schools: are made aware of how to protect their fellow students from being lured into sex trafficking and equipped to become advocates for freedom.
-
Faith Communities: become centers for prayer, advocacy and justice on behalf of the enslaved.
-
The Media: reports about the issue consistently and with sensitivity.
-
First Responders: medical clinics and paramedics, and other members of the medical community have the information they need to spot a victim of trafficking and get them the help they need.

How we Finance a TFC
In order for Oasis to continue to be able to roll out the TFC program we need to build a measure of financial sustainability into the model. That means that when a TFC is birthed it finds a way of making a financial contribution to ensure that Oasis can continue to provide the support for the specific TFC and help in developing others.
It costs Oasis close to $5,000 per year to oversee and resource each TFC. We ask for a contribution of around $3,000. (The remainder Oasis will source through its own fundraising efforts)
For that reason, when a TFC is birthed we will discuss with the core leadership team 3 different options for enabling this to happen. These are:
-
A financial contribution on a monthly basis from a TFC, collected from its members or other supportive people. ($250 per month.
-
The marketing of the Oasis 13 campaign which encourages individuals to sign up for $13 a month to fight trafficking. If a TFC signs up 20 people to the campaign then the $3,000 is covered that way.
-
Fundraisers organized by the TFC during the course of the year with a target of $3,000. This might be allocated within a wider budget created for the workings of the TFC and programs it establishes.
When it comes to initiatives each TFC will look to find its own financial resources and sustainability to run the programs it establishes. Although, i the early development of a TFC community Oasis USA will assist with material resources.
